We Are…
The Programming Department's Mission is to create, acquire, and schedule premier content to engage fans and maximize audiences on all platforms. We lead the development of sport strategies across the company and manage constructive relationships with our colleagues in other departments and with our league partners and organizers. Programming interns typically conduct ratings research, develop presentations, interface with various other ESPN departments regarding programming initiatives and assist with planning and scheduling for major sporting events. In three main areas college sports, professional sports and Digital Media.
Responsibilities
A Day in the Life:
Programming College Unit: Programming projects related to ESPN's collegiate sports categories, including research, ratings and scheduling, across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, SEC Network, and Longhorn Network.
General Acquisitions: Programming projects related to ESPN's professional sports categories and major summer events: NBA Draft, Wimbledon, MLB Home Run Derby, and the Open Championship. Ratings analysis, travel packets, misc. projects
Digital Media Programming: Programming Projects and strategic research on college and professional sports for WatchESPN, ESPN3, and ESPN Video on Demand.
Basic Qualifications
What You Bring to the Role:
• Fundamental understanding of ESPN's services provided to customers
• Sports knowledge
• Some business experience in a professional office environment
• Strong written and oral skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Detail oriented self-starter with outstanding interpersonal skills both verbal and written
• Some experience in television programming or production
Preferred Qualifications
• Appreciation for pop culture trends and new technologies
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Has fundamental knowledge of contract administration processes
• Has a basic understanding of other media, e.g., radio, online, print, etc.
Required Education
• Enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student in an accredited college/university in the semester prior to the internship

Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are June 2 – August 11, 2017. Interns will work 40 hours per week and must be fully available throughout the internship.
Housing: This internship is located in Bristol, CT. A limited amount of housing assistance is available for those who qualify.
Transportation: Must provide own transportation to/from work.
