?The Senior Product Manager of Video Platforms will play an integral role in the development of ESPN's live streaming and authenticated digital video products. This role will create world-class video experiences, working in conjunction with business, affiliate sales and operations and technology teams responsible for video and audio platform development.
This role will partner to envision and define how ESPN content is integrated into our partner's experiences, documenting detailed requirements and leading the development and delivery of the product experience across various platforms. Areas of focus will include live streaming, video on-demand and user authentication. The candidate will partner with business leads on content distribution projects. They will be responsible for understanding the requirements of our affiliate partners and evolving a platform that delivers value and meets their business objectives.
The right candidate will have a strong vision and be capable of understanding complex processes and systems. Furthermore, this person will have a diverse background and a demonstrable track record of successfully building and managing scaled, high quality, innovative products and services for a consumer-oriented organization. The right candidate must be a self-motivated, team player who can drive the overall business objectives of the organization with a high degree of autonomy.
Sr. Product Manager, Video and Audio Platforms will be a member of the Digital Media Product Management team and report directly to the Director of Consumer Product Platforms. The role is based in ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, CT.
Responsibilities
• Lead the product vision for video platforms in partnership with affiliate sales, programming, engineering, design, and business teams.
• Create a roadmap and execute in the development of ESPN's digital video platforms and capabilities.
• Work closely with Programming, Sales and Marketing leads on variety of projects to drive usage and create delightful experiences for end consumers .
• Partner with Affiliate Sales and Business Development teams to drive revenue through the distribution of video.
• In partnership with key stakeholders, produce and own a stable, accurate KPI reporting process to help drive continuous improvement to fan-facing video and audio features.
• Assist Technology in building scalable and stable video infrastructure that meets the demands of ESPN's businesses and anticipates the needs of our partners.
• Balance the priorities of a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Define product requirements.
• Collaborate with technology and operations on day-to-day product maintenance and features.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years product management experience, working in a consumer-oriented digital company.
• Practical experience defining and/or operating video platforms and products.
• Experience and knowledge with key video platforms, advertising solutions and streaming experiences.
• Familiarity with popular video codecs and constraints and considerations across platforms and devices.
• High level of comfort communicating with executives inside and outside of ESPN, including strategic partners and affiliates
• Familiarity and passion around mobile platforms and ott experiences.
• Strong analytical skills using Omniture, Google Analytics or related software.
• High energy and capable of multi-tasking.
• Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated skills in data analysis and analytical thinking.
• Great communication and ability to work cross organizationally.
• Process driven and extremely detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
• Understanding of core video streaming technologies, including video delivery, encoding/transcoding, and various media formats across devices.
• Familiarity, if not regular usage, of ESPN products and services, plus OTT and non-traditional streaming experiences.
