Full Time Job
ESPN is seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for supporting and maintaining ESPN Domestic and International digital properties that include ESPN.com, ESPNFC.com, and ESPN.com properties in Latin America.
This is an excellent opportunity for an avid sports fan with deep, hands-on technology expertise to help support products, and services that extend ESPN's brand recognition and provide world class stability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and implement new Java applications as well as develop new features and functionality for existing applications.
• Experience in upgrading software components to new versions and integrating with various tools for monitoring
• Creating and maintaining accurate and current documentation and upholding to coding standards
• Evaluating the effectiveness of existing software solutions
• Proven ability to support applications with an emphasis on performance, scalability, high-reliability and maintainability
• Experience in full life-cycle software development
• Applicants must be able to work both individually and in a team environment to achieve results in a deadline driven environment.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on time according to project schedules
• Ability to interface with and coordinate with teams across multiple global regions and time zones.
Basic Qualifications
Technically proficient in the following:
• 0-2 years of professional development experience
• Java SE – memory management, thread configurations, and tools for monitoring java services
• Web application servlets (typically running under Tomcat)
• Common delivery protocols including HTTP, SSL, SMTP, UDP, TCP/IP
• Guest-facing application experience
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Excellent understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
• Superior technical, analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated by an ability to resolve a wide range of issues and to select best methods and techniques for solving problems
• Must be a self-starter that can drive projects forward with minimal management oversight.

Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
