Full Time Job
Executes graphics on an expert level for the on-line/off-line groups using ESPN developed playout applications and graphics platforms for remote and studio productions. Provides support for off-line project management and assists the management team with supervisory shifts of the on-line group which includes solving scheduling dilemmas. Maintains quality of ESPN's on-air product for daily/nightly studio and remote productions
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
• Operates ESPN developed playout applications for studio and remote productions.
• Carries out the maintenance of both studio and remote graphics directed by Creative Services management
• Coordinates all ''event'' driven productions for all of the in-house productions and works with assigned Motion Graphics Controller
• Trains and Mentors all new Motion Graphics Controller hires on all on-line applications
• Recommends personnel on a per project basis
• Coordinates with lead Directors on assigned Studio shows for all graphics requests and reports back to project manager(s)
• Works independently on studio and remote assignments.
• Ensures advanced accuracy and timely preparation of graphics assigned to productions.
• Lead liaison between studio production needs and the off-line management group
• Must be able to develop and prepare graphics for studio, remote and International productions in an on/off-line environment.
• Works on special assignments and assists project managers on graphic timelines.
• Observes format deviations and enforces ESPN's graphic looks.
• Understands the functionality of ScheduAll for on-line, off-line and Design personnel
• Maintain administrative records including shift assignment reports and other required documentation
• Diagnoses malfunctions of equipment and contact Electronic Systems Support (ESS) for repairs. Must also be able to clearly articulate source of problems in defective equipment reports (DERs).
• Fulfill yearly Performance Goals
• Required to work flexible hours and days as production assignments dictate including weekends, nights and holidays
• Upholds radio assist responsibilities and Supervisory coverage when necessary
Knowledge and Skill:
• Superior knowledge of Creative Services real-time and ESPN developed playout systems.
• Proficient in ''event'' graphic packages.
• Proficient with understanding ESPN production terminology and control room etiquette and overall professionalism
• Superior understanding of ESPN IMS (Image Management System) for cataloging logos/headshots and custom graphic elements.
• Superior skill level in Photoshop assist Design group with headshot and logo cutouts.
• Superior understanding of Creative Services motion graphics hardware, software, and techniques; including both offline and real-time productions
• Ability to resolve routine on-the-spot problems with equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex Duet, VizRT Trio and RCS/VCS Playout problems.
• Advanced understanding of studio and remote formats of ESPN's networks and its promo look.
• Able to supervise shifts and send shift reports to management.
• Ability to execute the TCU (Template Creation Utility) process for studio productions
• Understands standard and high definition environments.
• Advanced organizational and leadership skills
• Highly driven, self-motivated individual with the ability to work well in a fast paced production environment
• Consistent ability to perform well under pressure and handle multiple tasks, while maintaining a positive attitude and leading others

• Understands ENPS for production use and provides workflow solutions when necessary.
Basic Qualifications
• Ten or more years of on-air graphics systems controller and developer experience in a major market or at the network level.
• Very strong computer skills are necessary.
• Sports knowledge is a must.
• Candidates must be highly motivated, willing to work unusual hours and must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to meet ever-changing deadlines.
Required Education
• College degree in Communications, Multi-Media, Digital Design, Graphic Design or Animation desired.
