Full Time Job
The Senior Editor will work with other editors to create, develop and manage compelling year-round coverage of the MLB in our Digital & Print Media division, which includes ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine. This editor must have a passion for the MLB and knowledge of the league, preferably with background covering, editing or producing related content. The Senior Editor will help create dynamic and innovative coverage for all platforms, champion story-telling in all forms and foster an environment that celebrates creativity.
Responsibilities
• Help create innovative MLB content and means of storytelling that distinguishes our coverage across all of ESPN's platforms, including digital, video, print and social.
• Help integrate coverage with ESPN's multiple entities, including TV production, Radio and ESPN The Magazine.
• Help lead an integral part of a close-knit group of editors, managing reporters through the process of identifying, reporting and telling big stories.
• Work with related groups as appropriate, including photographic and artistic editors, as well as audio and video producers.
• Work with the audience development staff to highlight and promote MLB content.
Basic Qualifications
• At least 5 years of editorial, reporting, blogging, social, multimedia and/or copy editing experience
• Experience managing complex projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and news judgment
• Appreciation of popular culture and understanding of the tastes of ESPN's audiences
• Familiarity with, and passion, for MLB
• Willingness to try new things
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in digital journalism, especially at a recognized national podcast, broadcast operation, publication or website.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field.
