To drive ad sales revenue, Sales Communications develops strategic marketing messages, delivered in creative ways, to persuade clients to partner with ESPN. Our materials leverage a combination of compelling visual storytelling, thoughtful design, research-fueled insights and unexpected motifs to deliver ESPN's message to the advertising marketplace.
The Senior Director of Account Communications, Sales Communications is an experienced sales marketer responsible for maximizing ESPN brand impact and increase sales revenue. The Senior Director leads the team responsible for creating persuasive ESPN client specific material by demonstrating the value and performance of the ESPN brand to our partners. The ideal candidate will have multimedia experience, as well as experience running a team.
This position assesses the customer needs, manages project workstreams and works to create efficiencies around account specific work.
ResponsibilitiesDirect the creation of all ESPN customer/account specific communications in order to drive revenue.
• Be the lead on all client specific material. This includes but is not limited to presentations, videos, printed materials, and out-of-the-box ideas.
• Define, direct and implement the client-specific strategy
• Develop new and persuasive ways for ESPN to tell its story
• Help shape and define both client meetings and conversations
• Attend and present at client meetings where appropriate
Manage a team in creating best in class marketing material and ideas
• Directly supervise a director and associate director
• Manage workload and provide direction to team
• Challenge and elevate the level of work across the group
Work with departments across ESPN to develop new and different ideas for clients
• Consult with the Sales VPs/directors to proactively gain marketplace feedback and anticipate needs
• Closely align with research and the data team to prove and sell performance
• Partner with CreativeWorks and Sports Marketing to develop and position ideas and products
Collaborate with other Sales Communications Senior Directors to provide consistency of message
• Work as a group to help lead the sales team by focusing on and delivering on sales' priorities
• Lead internal meetings and help set overall sales direction
Basic Qualifications
• 12 years' experience in related fields (multimedia sales and marketing) with client exposure required
• Proven track record of new business development
• Strategic and creative thinker with a pro-active approach to accessing needs and planning ahead
• Advanced design skills and design aesthetic
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several time-sensitive projects simultaneously
• Superior communication skills for frequent internal and external discussion and project management
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Adept storyteller
• Deep knowledge of research and data and how to position it
• Eye for design, with Adobe Photoshop knowledge a plus.
• Mastery of PowerPoint/Keynote
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
