Job Title: Programming Compliance Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist in ensuring all networks meet federally mandated requirements for closed captioning, with primary concentration on ESPN Deportes and Spanish captions. Act as primary liaison to Spanish-speaking in-house staff and external packagers, ensuring ESPN standards for editorial and technical quality are met. Serve as the Programming Compliance primary contact for all domestic, Spanish-speaking program deliveries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide detailed analysis and reporting on captioned programming, including but not limited to financial information and number of hours captioned.
Schedule programming to be captioned on the required ESPN domestic networks. Maintain information within NCS, Excel, and other ESPN databases.
Coordinate domestic program deliveries with external packagers and facilitate internal preparations for program feeds.
Schedule and track program tapes sent out of house for reasons such as off-line captioning, Classic reformatting and production updates.
Maintain domestic programming guidelines and send to internal and external producers as conditions warrant.
Assist in the coordination and scheduling of in-house encoding.
Work with Programming Planning to ensure external producers are meeting their contractual requirements for closed captioning and show delivery, while meeting ESPN’s standards for editorial content.
Compare schedules with invoices to insure we are meeting our federally mandated number of hours on a quarterly basis and resolve discrepant information.
Serve as back-up to Senior Compliance Coordinator for closed captioning and producer coordination.
Special projects as assigned by management.
Monitor the quality of Spanish captions displayed on our Spanish networks.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and abilities.
Fluent in Spanish and English spoken and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
College degree or related field experience with a minimum of three years experience in television programming, production or operations.
Strong knowledge of production operations and procedures.
Strong knowledge of sports and sports business helpful.
