Full Time Job
The Programming Coordinator supports the Digital Media Programming team on the day-to-day scheduling, acquisition and management of WatchESPN/ESPN3, Direct-to-Consumer and ESPN Video On Demand. Contributes to the strategic scheduling of content across all networks and digital platforms to maximize viewership, value and revenue; Works collaboratively across all ESPN departments and with external rights holders and strategic partners to fulfill contracts, build assets and achieve established company/team priorities and goals.
The Programming Coordinator, Digital Media Programming reports directly to the Sr. Director, Digital Programming and Acquisitions.
Responsibilities
• Works with Digital Media Programming team's management to assist in strategic scheduling, quality control and data entry of program schedules.
• Handles NCS/AIS scheduling and database management work for assigned networks/platforms.
• Liaison with multiple departments including Content Rights, International Programming, Affiliate, Finance, Legal, Product and Marketing, to identify and maximize new business opportunities in order to maximize growth, usage and revenue.
• Researches and prepares background reports to support meetings and strategic scheduling.
• Create presentations and assist in negotiation preparations.
• Tracks market research, trends and news for the Digital Media Programming team.
• Ensures timely and effective communication of programming information to all other ESPN Departments, platforms and business units as well as to external partners.
• Works as a member of the Programming Department at large to contribute to the overall scheduling strategy for the company across platforms. Proactively contribute innovative ideas to continue to grow our business.
Basic Qualifications
• Two years of experience in a professional work setting
• Strong overall sports knowledge
• Proficient computer skills, emphasis on Microsoft Office suite
• Practiced user of social media and new media platforms
• General knowledge of the sports media industry
• Strong communication skills; highly organized and efficient person
• Motivated to work in a complex and high energy environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Two years of experience in the sports media industry, new media, television programming and/or sports league/team/college conference environment.
• General familiarity with reading and comprehending legal contracts.
• General familiarity with media and footage rights.
• Basic knowledge and passion for emerging competitive digital video products and platforms.
• Knowledge of NCS or Content Scheduler system a plus.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, sports management or a related field.
