Full Time Job
This is a project position with an estimated length of 18 months
The Podcast Producer I, ESPN Films should be focused on engineering. This person will be part of a small team working to develop and produce the first run of 30 for 30 podcasts over the course of 18 months. Producer should bring particular audio mixing and engineering experience, and take the lead in crafting the sound and aesthetic of the 30 for 30 podcasts.
Podcast Producer's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to development of stories, identification of outside talent, project management of a set number of episodes, searching of archives, booking interviews, some editing and reporting/voicing his/her own podcasts if appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Play a key role in determining the sound and aesthetic of each episode using scoring, sound design, archival audio, scripting and field recordings.
• Pitch, develop and research ideas that come from inside and outside ESPN
• Supervise daily production on a number of episodes
• Source archival material when appropriate
• Conduct interviews when appropriate
• reporting and voicing podcasts if/when appropriate
• Write and edit scripts
• Edit audio using Pro Tools or comparable software
• Listen to and give feedback on scripts and edits by other producers
• Work with hosts to direct scripts and reads
• Book interviews, arrange travel, source archival material, coordinate with other parts of ESPN
Basic Qualifications
• 3-5 years experience working in journalism and/or storytelling projects
• The ability to find, research, and structure unique stories
• Experience managing freelancers and collaborating with other producers
• Audio editing and writing skills
• Very good organization and communication skills.
• Thrives in a team setting.
• At least 1 year working in an office setting with strong computer skills.
• Great attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience producing sound-rich, narrative, audio programming.
• Experience and unique talent in hosting audio programs.
• Relationships with freelance or outside podcast talent
• Relationships with archival vendors and leagues
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent
