Full Time Job
The Manager, Programming & Scheduling leads in the programming, scheduling and strategic oversight of the 24/7 ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNEWS program schedules to align with departmental priorities for audience and revenue growth. The Manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day studio and live event scheduling of ESPN domestic linear networks, reporting to the Director, Programming & Scheduling. Takes lead on strategy and scheduling of live event programming as well as ESPN Films & Original Content across all networks and platforms.
Requires daily communication and collaboration with professional and college sports programming teams, and key internal stakeholders for studio and original programming. Engages in both short and long-term network planning for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU and ESPN on ABC and strategically evaluates network performance. Works closely with other key internal stakeholders around the company such as Research, Asset Management, Ad Sales and Finance to evaluate program performance.
Responsibilities
• Oversight of linear television network schedules (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS) on a 24/7 basis.
• Oversee the day-to-day scheduling live events, original and studio programming across networks and platforms.
• Responsible for effective communication of network schedule planning and schedule changes across all departments.
• Aids in strategic vision and ultimate final monthly compilation of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS and ESPNU schedule.
• Leads efforts to align programming initiatives designed to increase audience and revenue.
• Work closely with Research, Asset Management, Ad Sales and Finance to evaluate program performance.
• As part of the programming team, contribute new ideas and suggestions guided by ESPN's overall brand strategies, viewer response, and the competitive landscape
Basic Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of ESPN's live event, studio and original programming schedule and strategy.
• Strong knowledge of sports television, the sports business & the cable industry.
• 5 years of experience in television programming or related sports field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of NCS system or other ORACLE-related computer system.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in television programming or related sports field.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business, Sports Management, or other related field.
