The Manager, Digital Documentary Development position in ESPN Films will support the group with short-form documentary and original content development, Home Entertainment and occasional production support. Work includes taking pitches, researching story ideas, helping keep a development database, writing treatments and maintaining relationships with production teams, as well as supporting projects and brands through PR, marketing, social and distribution. This Manager will also be hands-on with the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival.
Responsibilities
Develop short-form documentaries by generating story ideas, taking pitches, writing treatments and developing relationships with filmmaking teams.
Support content development by maintaining database of pitches and facilitating ongoing research
Support ESPN Films Home Entertainment department with distribution of content and marketing-related materials across physical and digital platforms.
When appropriate, support production of short-form content
Gather materials and coordinate communication with marketing, PR, social, screenings, etc for short-form projects
Work closely with the head liason for the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival which includes: festival submissions & deliverables; screenings management, execution, and on-site representation; gathering of all PR materials - text, photos & video; primary festival liaison for internal requests.
Basic Qualifications
5 years of experience in production and/or development of long and /or short form storytelling
Strong knowledge about the distribution of short-form and long-form content
Strong relationships in the filmmaking community, including filmmakers, production companies and festival heads
Some experience with event planning
Strong attention to detail and follow through
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a basic knowledge of website management and design
Strong social media skills
Demonstrated strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Strong sports knowledge and knowledge of sports history and story-telling
Ability to identify strong stories in the genre
Experience managing a diverse group of projects from external production companies
Required Education
Bachelor's degree
