Full Time Job
Executes graphics on an intermediate level using ESPN developed playout applications for remote and studio productions. Maintains quality of ESPN's on-air product for daily/nightly studio and remote productions.
Responsibilities
• Operates graphics playout applications for live studio and remote productions
• Responsible for preparation and quality control of all graphics going to air
• Serves as department show-lead on multiple productions; disseminates info and updates to greater team.
• Reports malfunctions of equipment and contact Electronic Systems Support
• Responsible for oversight and adherence of various studio and remote graphic formats of ESPN's networks and promos
• Oversees and troubleshoots production-related communication apps such as those that operate touch screens and
• Maintains administrative records including detailed daily show reports and other required documentation, including show style guides and instructional material
• Assists and advises in scheduling and machine/graphics channel allocations
• Works independently on studio and remote graphics playout assignments, as well as production design
• Assists design team with show prep and side work, including use of Photoshop and related apps
• Trains new hires on various Studio productions
• Writes and fulfills formal yearly Performance Commitments
• Expected to be open to flexible schedule; hours and days may vary as sports production assignments dictate, including weekends, nights and holidays
Basic Qualifications
• Two or more years of on-air graphics systems controller experience in a major market or at the network level
• Able to perform at an intermediate level with PC-based graphics playout applications
• Must possess at least intermediate Photoshop skills
• Strong computer skills are necessary (Microsoft Word, Windows and Excel)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to this role
• Above average sports knowledge is preferred
• Must be accurate spellers and possess strong communication skills
• Bilingual a plus
• Candidates must be highly motivated, willing to work unusual hours and must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to meet ever-changing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Proficient use of ESPN IMS (Image Management System) for cataloging logos/headshots and custom graphics and Sales elements
• Proficient understanding ESPN production terminology and control room etiquette and overall professionalism
• Able to diagnose malfunctions of equipment and contact Electronic Systems Support (ESS) for repairs. Must also be able to clearly articulate source of problems in defective equipment reports (DERs)
• Proficient understanding of various existing ESPN graphic packages & operational procedures
Required Education
• High School Diploma or Equivalent?
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Multi-Media, Digital Design, Graphic Design desired
