A person who loves telling stories using photography, illustration and design who is considering a career in visual journalism. You often draw things to try and demonstrate a point. You spend longer than most editing the photo, caption and hashtags of your Instagrams and Snapchats. You organize your room before studying for tests. You see many possible approaches to how to tell a story, and enjoy debating the pros/cons of each route. You appreciate the whole package - how all the elements of a project all work together to make the strongest impact.
Responsibilities
The role:
You will work with the art director and editors to decide how to make our stories visual including everything from doing photo research, cropping and captioning to making your own illustrations for daily and feature stories. You will think through the order and pacing of images within a story to find the best way to keep our readers engaged throughout. You will also help the team to put stories together in Wordpress and contribute ideas for headlines and other display text to make sure it all works well together.

What You Bring to the Team:
Candidates should be interested in pursuing a career in photo editing, illustration and/or design and should demonstrate their experience in visual arts or photojournalism at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and/or Wordpress is a bonus but not necessary.
Required Education
• Enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student at an accredited college or university in the semester prior to the internship

Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship. May 2017 graduates are still eligible.
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are September 11– November 17, 2017. Interns may work up to 40 hours per week with some flexibility in number of hours and schedule to accommodate classes as needed. Housing: This internship is located in New York, NY. Participants on this internship must provide their own housing. Transportation: Must provide own transportation to/from work.
