Full Time Job
The Director of Networking plays a key role in Designing, Developing and Building scalable network fabric in support of critical business services at ESPN. This individual will participate in Designs, and ultimately build the gold standard of network solutions aligned with current and future requirements for the Broadcast, Digital Media, and Corporate Data Center services. The Director will also be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions which provide and promote scale, automation, and improve support using a repeatable approach. This individual will establish cohesive network engineering frameworks, utilizing industry best practices and techniques. The Director will be expected to identify and articulate business solutions and the supporting network infrastructure to Business Leaders. The Director will be responsible for improving the availability, integrity, and capabilities of solutions by building appropriate architecture standards. The Director will provide solutions across all levels of the organization. This position will be aligned under the IT Technical Engineering Group. This role also demands ensuring the applicable network systems are running 24/7 and meet operational expectations. Participating as a Tier 2, or 3 operational product support troubleshooter are highly possible during times of incident management.
Responsibilities
• Work within a team of technical resources across architecture, engineering and operations to provide hands on networking engineering guidance to new projects, current technical operations and across other IT Services.
• Ensure that the Network technology infrastructure is fit for purpose, and in line with the service and technical needs of internal infrastructure partner organizations.
• Provide networking engineering input into the Architecture/Strategy Network Systems strategy and performing quality assurance on projects delivered by ESPN's strategic partners.
• Work with cross-functional teams to map user requirements to detailed technical requirements for network infrastructure.
• Participate in establishing technical Network KPIs and SLAs for internal ESPN systems, as needed.
• Responsible for designing, building and maintaining networks in support of ESPN's broadcast, digital products, services and corporate infrastructure.
• Responsible for lifecycle management and continuous improvement of network infrastructure.
• Identify network solutions for improving network performance, scalability, availability, reliability, reporting and monitoring.
• Analyze complex network environments and identify risks and mitigation strategies across the organization
• The Director of Network Engineering will have managing responsibilities with a team of at least two people as direct reports
Basic Qualifications
• Total of 10 years of technical experience, including 8 years of technical and troubleshooting experience to include progressively complex networking and security experience, and hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a role supporting a multi-location enterprise network environment.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining large enterprise networks for delivering Digital Media, Broadcast, and IT functions.
• Experience with Enterprise network design, deployment and monitoring.
• Expert level experience with network troubleshooting and analysis.
• Ability to provide forward looking network designs which align with future media delivery solutions
• Experience designing and building scalable, high availability WAN topologies in support of real-time audio, video, and core IT services
• Excellent understanding of network protocols in large enterprise networks.
• Experience designing and supporting IP multicast services for video.
• Strong understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
• Network experience in Media and Entertainment business or segments.
• Cisco CCNP and/or CCIE certification(s) in relevant area.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a role supporting a multi-location enterprise network environment.
• Total of 10 years of technical experience, including 7 years of technical and troubleshooting experience to include progressively complex networking and security experience, and hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches
• Previous Management Experience in IT Environment
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a role supporting a multi-location enterprise network environment.
Required Education
• High School Diploma
Preferred Education
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field OR
• M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field, with Cisco CCNP and/or CCIE certification(s) in relevant area
