The Data Analyst, Product Management role will be responsible for supporting the Digital Media Product team with data-driven analysis and reporting. In addition to regular reporting and ad-hoc analysis, this role will be responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting on key success metrics and KPIs. This role will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Audience Development and Content Development to process and analyze data with the goal of providing insight into the key drivers of performance. From this analysis and insight, the Data Analyst will make recommendations for capitalizing on new growth and user experience opportunities.
In addition to this basic analysis and insight, the data analyst will provide key information in support of user on-boarding, registration, personalization, funnel optimization and revenue optimization and maximization. You'll also be responsible for working with key stakeholders to identify tracking & reporting gaps such as funnels, pathways, and other undefined concepts. This role will require strong understand of web analytics & user behavior as well as a passion for building multiplatform data tools necessary to drive decisions for ESPN's diverse portfolio of digital product
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain analysis, insights and reporting across ESPN's digital media platforms, with keen focus on mobile products.
• Support the Product team on identifying and monitoring success metrics.
• Coordinate and execute ad-hoc analysis that informs both the strategic and tactical initiatives of the Product team.
• Maintain a knowledge base of technology, media and consumer behavioral trends and potential impact on ESPN digital business.
• Assist in the preparation of presentations and formal analysis in support of executive decision making and strategy development.
• Specify and document data and reporting requirements within existing and proposed ESPN digital products.
• Work with constituent groups across ESPN to ensure accuracy and consistency in both methodologies and reporting of data.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of digital experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated data-driven decision-making capabilities with the ability to work on a diverse scope of projects requiring detailed analysis.
• Experience with enterprise-level reporting platforms such as: Localytics, Mixpanel, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics or related products.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of end users and technical resources.
• Creative thinking and motivated self-starter.
• Passionate sports fan and familiarity with ESPN's products and services.
Preferred Qualifications
• Business and/or Product analytics experience in large-sized companies with multiple functions/ business units.
• Advanced SQL or equivalent (R) for data mining.
• Advanced Tableau & Excel for building front end data solutions for the business & providing ad hoc analysis.
• Data driven problem solver with an aptitude for turning large data sets into insights and actions.
• Technical experience with tagging and tracking for HTML and application based products.
• Experience working with product and business partners to deliver actionable analytics via automated dashboards or ad hoc requests (direct pulling from database).
Required Education
• High School Diploma.
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in statistics or related field.
