Full Time Job
This position will be based in Bristol, Connecticut supporting a half-hour daily news show (Outside the Lines), as well as, a strong creative role in the growth of E:60, ESPN's award-winning television magazine. As the Coordinating Producer I (Studio) you will be responsible for the creative development and production of a daily show and magazine with marquee talent. This position will challenge your creativity and ability to work under pressure in order to deliver the highest quality content in a media market that is growing more competitive.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for the creative re-development and re-imagined production of Outside the Lines (OTL) daily show, while contributing to E:60, ESPN's award-winning television magazine.
• Directs and coordinates the new design of OTL set and graphics presentation while leading a staff of producers through development and production of new concepts and formats for the show; including remote studio events and prime time specials.
• Accountable for the content quality, budget performance and market share of the OTL daily show
• Creates new concepts and strategy for OTL digital and social; builds a new television format to grow digital and social presence, working in conjunction with E:60 digital and social media
• Directs Producers, Associate Producers and Production Assistants in all aspects of the production of OTL and, at times, E:60
• Directs the design and implementation of new, innovative graphics for the OTL daily show
• Coordinates the schedules and facilities for the editing of the OTL daily show
• Tracks and reports on production schedules and budgets for the OTL daily show
• Oversees and controls the daily selection of topics and flow of production assets for the OTL show
• Directs the conduction of research on sports information to obtain materials necessary for productions
• Oversees the creation of copy and scripts for the OTL daily show
• Operates within the context of defined new OTL daily concepts, objectives and outcomes
• Oversee the planning and execution of daily OTL production
• Work is reviewed by the responsible Senior Coordinating Producer relative to milestones, defined financial outcomes and viewers' behavior for OTL daily show and, at times, E:60
• Oversees and ensures the highest journalistic standards for the OTL daily show and, at times, E:60
• Directly and through key subordinates, sets and ensures compliance with the highest levels of professionalism in all aspects of the OTL daily show and E:60
• Creates and adjusts the concepts and content of the OTL daily show to reach the largest possible number of viewers and to increase ESPN's market penetration, ratings and viewership and financial results
• Contributes to determining or determines the daily content and focus of OTL including the topics/stories comprising each show; ensures that important emerging stories and breaking news are identified and reported
Basic Qualifications
• Has established expertise to create and produce compelling sports news shows
• Has strong level of ability to generate and execute sports news concepts, from inception to execution
• Has established experience leading team through re-design and re-branding, development and production -- introducing new concepts, ideas and formats into daily presentation of show
• Has high level of knowledge of digital and social media
• Has working mastery of the sports production processes and the ability to produce high level sports news shows
• Has a high level of knowledge of real-time sports production processes for TV, digital and social media
• 10 years of progressively complex related studio or related journalistic experience
• Has established knowledge regarding technological advances relative to sports news show
• Has a strong level of knowledge of what story ideas and concepts to use for sports news shows
• Has a high level knowledge of sports and sports history
• Demonstrated of management experience
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
