Full Time Job
The Business Analyst position, within the ESPN Revenue Management and Client Services (RMCS) team, would be focused on conducting deep dive analyses of ESPN television ad sales data that would help to identify business development and marketization opportunities. The primary responsibilities would include performing proactive data analysis, identifying trends and providing information that would expand the overall understanding of business performance and would drive and support data-driven-decision-making. The candidate must have expertise and experience in business metric reporting, insight development, analysis, and process improvement. Further the candidate must be skilled at delivering and communicating business data analysis and developing scorecard metrics that would help to interpret data in a meaningful way.
Responsibilities
• Proactively assess and communicate opportunities and risks to senior management via in-depth data analysis using various reporting tools (primarily Business Objects, Excel, MicroStrategy)
• Become a subject matter expert and create complex and high value analytical insights and reports that would influence strategic business decisions
• Present and defend recommendations to a variety of audiences, such as executives, sales and planning teams • Lead the design and delivery of business specific reporting, including executive scorecard, monthly scorecard and other business reports to track key business initiatives.
• Define key metrics to measure ad performance and make recommendations to influence them
• Collaborate with various different business groups to gather reporting/analysis requirements and to drive a data-driven culture
• Participate in large/cross-functional meetings and conduct formal/informal presentations to present high level business analysis to executive leadership
• Prioritize multiple projects appropriately and communicate timelines and project progress effectively
Basic Qualifications
• 3 years of industry experience in business intelligence and data analysis including but not limited to manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends and providing proactive complex and high visibility analysis
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into crisp recommendations and influence change.
• Demonstrate strategic thinking and effectiveness in achieving results both through individual and cross-team efforts, show a propensity for learning, and portray the ability to identify, analyze, frame, interpret, and deliver sound solutions
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills with expert Excel knowledge (e.g. macros, pivots, complex calculations, charts) required
• Experience working with reporting tools such as: Business Objects, strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven ability to communicate and partner with various groups within an organization such as Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Finance teams
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time
• Attention to detail, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure
• Experience working with reporting tools such as: Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Hitbox, Omniture, etc. strongly preferred
• 1 years of experience in online advertising or a related industry strongly preferred
• Completed ESPN Internship
