Selects and assembles creative production elements in live and taped programming.
• Supports assigned CP, Producers with the production of all or parts of assigned international live or taped studio show and show’s remote; assistance provided includes gathering production elements for live and taped programming such as: video clips, graphics and research support.
• Main backup for show Producer.
• Participates and Leads in developing the concepts and content for assigned segment, teases, sales features, promotions, roll-outs and special animation elements that reach viewers and that increase ESPN’s market penetration, ratings, viewership and ad-sales profits.
• Produces, edits and writes segment, teases, features, bumps and other roll-ins for live and taped shows.
• Provides story ideas to generate show elements, from concept to execution
• Assists in capturing and assembling production elements for on-line video highlights, features and teases.
• Provides timely, accurate and complete delivery of multimedia elements and publishes to various platforms.
• Has the ability to create and write compelling features and cover stories; provides story ideas to generate features, from concept to execution.
• Gathers news, facts and video for assigned productions; researchers and prepares story ideas for future productions.
• Acts as the key editorial liaison between the show and news/policy makers.
• Responsible for researching, pitching and booking talent.
• Receive pitches, make inquiries, and handle celebrity contacts until bookings are transferred to individual show producers.
• Maintain awareness of celebrity projects and pitch to show Producers and Coordinating Producers.
• Initiate and maintain relationships with subjects of ongoing news stories.
• Coordinate celebrity shoots or produce celebrity segments as required.
• Maintain strong contacts with industry entertainment executives.
• Pre-interview potential guests for the show.
• Oversees the production of assigned features and/or live shows; coordinates with production crews to schedules production activities.
• Operates under close and frequent supervision, within the context of highly defined production processes.
• Work is subject to close and regular scrutiny by Producers and Coordinating Producers at regular intervals and milestones.
• Minimum 3 years’ practical production experience.
• Familiarity and working knowledge of production related television techniques.
• Deep knowledge of US and International sports/rules/athletes (both current and historical especially Soccer with special focus on Concacaf and European leagues, NBA, NFL, MLB and Tennis.
• Strong knowledge of US Hispanic television sports and market.
• Strong understanding of, and appreciation for, Hispanic culture.
• Spanish proficiency should be as expected of a native Spanish speaker/writer.
• Must have deep experience in producing feature and cover stories, teases, sales features, promotions, roll-out, on-line pieces and special animation elements for assigned productions and shows.
• Must have strong ability to edit words, content, and stats as well as be able to write clearly and concisely under pressure in live broadcast environment.
• Candidate must demonstrate the ability to show leadership, to drive content and to leverage relationships by working collaboratively with team members.
• Must possess demonstrated communication skills and ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of sensitive production situations that continually arise and are subject to change.
• Must have possession of superior communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment and drive collaboration.
• Demonstrates and applies knowledge of many operating processes within the Production Department including linear and non-linear technology.
• Has strong knowledge and understanding of technological advances in animation, video editing, and graphics.
• Good experience producing segments, features and other Studio Production shows.
• Has and applies experience in the conduct of several relatively complex processes and procedures carried out in the Studio Production Department.
• Expert editorial skills, sports knowledge and news judgment to shape and enhance storylines using graphics will be required in order to be successful within this role.
• Strong ability to check and proof content for grammar, spelling, clarity and impact under tight deadlines.
• Superior attention to details is a necessity.
• Strong creative and innovative thinking regarding news judgment and content is a must.
• Thorough day-to-day knowledge of sports news, information and history with the skill to translate content into short, specific and concise messages easily comprehended and digested by the viewing audience.
• Strong knowledge of TV production and video editing, including supervising others.
• Detailed technical knowledge required knowing of what “works” on TV and what is realistic to accomplish in time allotted for show production.
• Flexible attitude towards constantly changing work conditions and environment.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or its equivalent
