Full Time Job
At the direction of the Executive Director of the Bowl, the Associate Manager of Events will be responsible for operational and logistical support of the Birmingham Bowl, one of ESPN Regional Television's stable of owned and operated events. Functions will include, but are not limited to, multiple game- day operations, pre and post event maintenance, support of corporate sales assets, interaction with conference and team officials, team travel and event coordination and strong understanding of event budgets.
Responsibilities
• Sales and Management:
• Work with Executive Director in the management of sponsor/prospect database, research new accounts, preparation of sales proposals/agreements, sponsor fulfillment, promotions and ticket sales programs.
• Maintain budget reporting function as required, including: communication with ESPN Accounting, ERT Finance and Executive Director.
• Responsible for vendor set up, processing bills and expenses for Birmingham Bowl.
• Media/PR/Newsletter/Website/Social Media:
• Work with Bowl media contacts on PR, Newsletter, Website, Community Outreach and Social Media needs.
• Manage the planning, budgeting and fulfillment of marketing and advertising placements.
• Operations:
• Liaison to Stadium operations and for establishing all required elements for Bowl game.
• Primary contact for ESPN game-day production crew and participating team's operations.
• Develop and provide annual team operations manuals and develop/execute game day script.
• Manage and/or assist in the various bowl functions/activities, including: game entertainment/production, liaison to Bowl host hotel partners, overseeing volunteer committees, etc.
• Assist with hiring and managing of intern/operations staff.
• Other Duties:
• Manage vendor set-up, process bills and expenses for the Camellia Bowl.
• Support business functions of the division as assigned.
• Assist in the development and management of events within the division.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a professional or college sports setting
• Prior knowledge and background working with an event and/or teams
• Operational experience in executing a sporting eventStrong computer skills including knowledge and use of all Microsoft office programs
Preferred Qualifications
• Five (5) years of experience in a sport or event related capacity including a professional team, local organizing committee, Convention & Visitors Bureau, athletic department, bowl environment, or other related business.
• Experience in marketing, media and full understanding of event operations.
• Good presentation and speaking skills.
• Strong knowledge of college football and the college bowl system.Strong knowledge of ticket sales and corporate sales.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree from a four year college
