Full Time Job
ESPN.com Esports editors oversee the daily production of all Esports content. They work directly with writers and partners to assign and edit content in a fast-paced daily environment. They write headlines and evaluate stories for accuracy, fairness and completeness. They must have an awareness of the operations of every ESPN unit in order to collaborate successfully in developing timely and relevant content. Editors are responsible for making judgments on story play and for participating in discussions on how to package content in the news rails on the website.
Responsibilities
• 1-2 years working in a media environment
• Possess knowledge of one or more of the major Esports, including, but not limited to League of Legends, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Call of Duty, Counterstrike: Global Offensive, StarCraft 2 and others, including fantasy and gambling areas.
• Strong understanding and appreciation of news and story play.
• Excellent headline writing skills and an understanding of search engine optimization.
• Ability to create and tell stories in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment.
• Work quickly and juggle multiple varied tasks during a typical work day.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
• Experience in traditional or new media
• Experience in online media content preparation. Applicants must have the ability to work in a rapidly changing online environment and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in communication arts, journalism or new media or equivalent combination of education experience.
