Royalty Finance Director – US and Canada
This role reports to the VP, Finance and is located in Jersey City, NJ
Job Description
• Manage the preparation, reconciliation, payment and mailing of statements to distributed labels and joint ventures.
• Supervise the monthly financial close process including analysis of monthly expenses and related accruals and provisions
• Supervise staff, both onshore and offshore, and develop their skills through work experience and training.
• Review and sign off of reconciliations prepared by staff of the general ledger to underlying records and systems.
• Review and sign off of all journal vouchers prepared by staff.
• Review and supervise preparation of annual tax schedules for withholding tax reporting.
• Maintenance of the general ledger interface rules.
• Research and promptly resolve all inquiries from the business units, maintaining professional, effective and constructive working relationships with them and the Royalty department.
• Review and supervise the quarterly intercompany confirmations process and analyses prepared by staff of royalty receivables to receipts
• Participate in the development of current and future royalty and accounting systems, including monitoring controls, developing enhancements, incorporating new business streams and ventures, improving efficiency and service level of the department.
• Performance of additional special projects as assigned by the VP Finance, Head of Royalties.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree In Accounting/Business Studies
• Advanced degree/professional certification (e.g. MBA, CPA) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years relevant business experience, including three years specifically in entertainment and royalties. Equivalent experience in public accounting will be considered.
• Experience must include exposure to complex computer systems, processing cycles, royalty-based contracts, maintenance of general ledger accounts and financial reporting practices.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communications and managerial skills.
• Advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel and Word.
• Travel up to 15% may be involved.
