The Manager of Royalty Audit will work in conjunction with the VP Legal Affairs to manage, analyse and defend third party audits from Artists, Publishers, and Unions. The role is integral in reducing the overall financial risk to EMI.
This role will report to the SVP, Financial Operations and Services and will be located in Jersey City, NJ
Responsibilities:
• Communicate notification of audit to relevant parties (BA Point, Label FD, SVP Shared Services.
• Schedule Audit fieldwork
• Verify requested audit period to the contract
• Information gathering as per Auditors document request
• Personally supervise auditors during fieldwork.
• Manage the onsite visit.
• Respond to follow up requests post onsite visit
• Receive / Review audit report.
• Ensure BA has been notified and copied.
• Review audit claims
• Prepare a summary of claims along with a first opinion on validity of claims.
• Propose audit provision
• Agree provision with Label Finance/Hub CFO.
• Provide First Look summary report to BA and Label Finance.
• For Material Claims: Research and provide documentation to support BA response.
• For Non Material claims: Determine response, provide documentation support and review with BA.
• For All Claims: verify accuracy of each of the auditors’ claim (review calculations).
• Research / propose for potential counter claims
• Provide back up schedules, document support, and audit summary schedule to BA
• Update audit provision (with Label Finance approval)
• Work with BA to successfully negotiate audit settlements
• Support BA at Audit Committee
• Pay as per approved settlement.
• Ensure royalties issues are corrected in Royalties process / systems
• Prepare / manage Audit Dashboard
• Review Audit Dashboard with senior management
• Manage weekly review process with BA
• Manage audit volume and backlog
Skills/Knowledge:
• Bachelor's Degree In Accounting/Business Studies
• Advanced degree/professional certification (e.g. MBA, CPA) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years relevant business experience, including three years specifically in entertainment and royalties. Equivalent experience in public accounting will be considered.
• Experience must include exposure to complex computer systems, processing cycles, royalty-based contracts, maintenance of general ledger accounts and financial reporting practices.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communications and managerial skills.
• Advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel and Word.
• Travel up to 10% may be involved. |
