SHOW / PIPELINE TD
Duncan Studio is seeking a talented and experienced TD for current film project.
Purpose of the Job:
The Show Technical Director is involved in the planning and support of the technical aspects of a given show or shows. Working closely under the direction of the CG Supervisor, Comp and/or VFX Supervisor(s), the Show Technical Director collaborates with other leads to ensure a smooth technical process on the show. He or she will write application specific tools, or show specific pipeline tools as required, solve problems for non-technical artists and otherwise be the first response person for any technical issues on the show(s) he or she is assigned to.
Needs to Do:
Assist with pipeline setup and management for integration of 2D & 3D assets. Supporting the more general 3D tasks such as modelling, animation, texturing, lighting and rendering. At times, they may be asked to learn a proprietary system or a new piece of software, and we would expect them to be flexible enough to handle this.
Needs to Know:
Thorough knowledge of the principles of 3D (animation, modelling, texturing, lighting, scripting, shading, rendering, rigging). We appreciate that the candidate may have varying levels of knowledge in these fields.
Full working knowledge of Maya and Nuke.
You would need to be comfortable with the more technical aspects of CG work, and have a good sense of the artistic side as well. Programming or scripting skills (e.g. mel, python) are required.
Experience with 2D animation software, such as Harmony and After Effects, appreciated but not required.
Familiarity with pipeline issues and a typical post production environment.
Experience working in animation is appreciated but not required.
Minimum of 1 year experience on feature films. Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, games) would also be taken into account.
