Senior Accounting & Finance Analyst
Position Summary:
We are hiring a Senior Accounting & Finance Analyst to join our Accounting & Finance team in an exciting, growing, world-renowned motion picture studio. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with a strong technical accounting and finance background, including Big 4 public accounting experience, who is excited and motivated by the opportunity to also be trained in performing film model & deal analysis. Given the company's growth projections, the ability and desire to wear many hats and to successfully manage numerous projects at once is critical.
As the Senior Accounting & Finance Analyst, you will assist in the preparation of the Company's financial statements and compliance; compile monthly and quarterly internal reporting; prepare budgeting and forecasting analyses; and perform financial analyses and technical accounting research. You will also be trained in ad-hoc finance-related projects supporting both Finance and Business Affairs that include greenlight analysis with the potential to be a key supporting member of the finance team. The position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer & Treasurer, but will have significant interaction with all members of the accounting & finance team, including the CFO.
The position is primarily responsible for maintaining the general ledger, account reconciliations, and other duties to assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close. You will have exposure to various areas of the company in the month-end close process and financial analyses. To be successful in this role, you must have strong knowledge of GAAP, have the ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams, and have excellent Excel and problem-solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Coordination and compilation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages to senior executives and banks for compliance purposes
• Perform budget-to-actual variance analyses with reporting to related departments
• Assist in the design of system reports and processes that enhance the timeliness and accuracy of reporting packages
• Assist the CAO with the external audit process, including preparing analyses for external auditors and tax accountants
• Monitor, evaluate and communicate the business impact of relevant technical pronouncements
• Prepare ad-hoc greenlight analysis; supporting and working with our Director of Finance and Business Affairs
• Provide standard and ad-hoc analyses as needed, including converting accrual basis financials to cash basis for budget-to-actual purposes
Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related subject
• 2+ years public accounting
• Excellent written and oral communication skills using clear, concise language appropriate for financial reporting and ability to summarize and present complex financial data in clear, organized, and concise manner
• CPA required
• US GAAP knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation and internal controls testing and documentation
• Knowledge of SOP 00-2 a plus
• Experience with Great Plains desirable
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail/commitment to accuracy
• Team player who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to plan, schedule and organize work independently with minimum supervision in order to complete tasks within designed timelines
• Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in MS PowerPoint and MS Word
• Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines
