Sr. QA Engineer (Automation)
The Disney-ABC Television Group's Quality Assurance team is responsible for testing and ensuring the highest quality of our TV everywhere applications and services on web, mobile, and OTT platforms.
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be working under the technical direction of the QA Manager and the Director of Technology. This person will support the Engineering team during the software development life-cycle of web, mobile, and OTT applications as well as APIs that serve them.
Our ideal candidate is creative, self-sufficient, energetic and has a desire to learn leading edge technologies. This person should have passion for demonstrating skill and precision in his/her work while completing the tasks below.
• Documents and reports on functional & performance issues
• Communicates with developers, project managers and other development staff regarding software issues and testing processes
• Develops test automation frameworks as well as scripts, and executes both manual and automated testing protocols
Responsibilities
• Design and develop innovative automation testing technologies – written in Java, Swift, Kotlin, and Python
• Develop & execute on test plans extracted from highly complex business requirements & functional specifications for large projects
• Regularly interacts with technical personnel across multiple internal groups and external vendors
• Automate functional, regression, integration, smoke and acceptance tests
• Performs & oversees final checks and releases code to production; validates and signs off on complex test plans
• Serves as a technical resource & point of contact for other teams as well as a leader/mentor other members of the team
• Report automated & manual testing results to stakeholders (Mgmt, QA teams, Dev teams, etc.) along with a plan to move forward to delivery
• Implements SDLC Best Practices in the QA testing processes and looks to continuously improve their collective teams' methodologies
Basic Qualifications
• 5-8 years of progressively related years of experience in software development and/or QA engineering
• 2-4 years of experience working with common automation frameworks
• Has created or implemented an automated testing framework
• Coding/Scripting experience in Python, Swift and/or Java - Ability to interpret, understand and create code from scratch
• Hands-on experience with API-related technologies HTTP/S, REST, XML and JSON
• A self-starter with demonstrated initiative – able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
• 3-4 years leading multiple vendors or test teams
• Understanding of the Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) process
• Understanding of network fundamentals related to client/server architectures
• Excellent analytical, debugging and technical problem solving skills
• Experience using Wireshark, Fiddler, and/or Charles Proxy
• ''Grey box'' testing experience on web, mobile and OTT applications
Preferred Qualifications
• ''White box'' testing of mobile applications for multiple platforms
• Minimum of 2 years experience with a Source Code Management system (SVN, Git, SourceSafe, etc.) - preferably GiT
• Minimum of 2 years experience with build tools (Maven, Gradle)
• Minimum of 2 years experience with xUnit framework (JUnit and/or TestNG)
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.)
• Experience with Jenkins
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering field or equivalent work experience
