Software Engineer (Mobile - Android)

We were the first to provide authenticated users access to both live, 24/7 linear network streams and an extensive offering of advantaged-window, on-demand episodes on desktops, streaming media devices, smartphones and tablets. We developed the Emmy Award-winning ABC Player, the Emmy Award-winning Academy Awards Backstage Pass app for iPhone and iPad, as well as high-traffic, over-the-top applications and services for a variety of mobile, desktop, and streaming media platforms. The Software Engineer will work under the technical direction of the Engineering Manager and will collaborate with the Digital Media Technology Team to develop, test, and deploy desktop, mobile, and streaming media device applications that give millions of viewers access to Disney/ABC video content.

Responsibilities
• Work with a team to implement native and web applications for desktop, mobile and streaming media devices
• Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code, whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defects
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platforms
• Analyze and optimize application code for efficiency, reliability and performance
• Manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Embrace a highly collaborative team that rewards quality code and effective communication
• Stay current with the latest development best practices
• Participate in design and code reviews
Basic Qualifications
• Experience with object-oriented software development
• Demonstrated ability in developing applications for Android or iOS
• Working knowledge of Java/Android SDK and/or Objective C/Cocoa/Core Animation
• Experience with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
• Familiar with design patterns
• Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team
• Ability to develop and integrate unit tests
• Ability to articulate and apply software engineering best practices
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high-quality products
• Rigorous attention to detail and focus on quality of deliverables
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, REST
• Knowledge of Kotlin
• Knowledge of PHP
• Any knowledge with multithreaded programming
Required Education
• BS or MS in Computer Science
