Full Time Job
This position is responsible for creating and implementing publicity campaigns that generate awareness about our series and network. You must be able to identify and/or invent publicity opportunities for content, talent and network initiatives and represent the network's viewpoint. Help shape network messaging for talent interviews and appearances. Help build viewership across platforms. This position will also be responsible for submitting the network's series for multiple award submissions throughout the year.
Responsibilities
• Find, cultivate and craft the story of what is interesting and newsworthy.
• Generate story ideas, pitch and secure press coverage for Freeform programming and content on an ongoing and consistent basis.
• Deadline writing of newsworthy press releases, media alerts, press items and pitches to the press is essential.
• Coordinate press coverage for series and key network initiatives.
• Prepare press kits which entails writing biographies, lead sheets and press releases.
• Draft photo synopses.
• Draft log line and send to talent, program executives and show producers, that is then distributed to media outlets and press.
• Participate in all PR activities for semi-annual Press Tours and press/online junkets.
• Will work closely with programming team and producers to handle submissions for all awards on behalf of network series.
• Accompany production crews on location.
• Attend Premiere Parties and coordinate interviews for talent with press.
• Coordinate coverage with Broadcast Publicity and Photo Producers.
• Collaborate with Social, Digital and Marketing.
• Review and caption ''positive'' quotes from printed media for publicity quote document.
• Research local markets media outlets.
• Schedule talent appearances (GMA, Live with Kelly and Michael, Ellen, The View, etc).
• Coordinate interviews for talent with press.
• Fact check story information for media writers and editors.
• Review storylines with programming executives.
• Attend producers' meetings, table reads and tapings.
• Work with larger team to coordinate radio press tours, EPK productions, satellite press tours and prepare show clips for distribution.
• Read scripts to draft synopses for Photography and to craft story angles for the media.
• Work with Photo Producers on coordinating episodic photo coverage.
• Maintain relationships with Programming Executives.
• Coordinate activities with studio and/or personal publicists.
• Interact with Production crews, Producers and Production Executives.
• Maintain relationships with Talent Personal Publicists, Agents, Talent Managers and Talent.
• Establish and build relationships with Press and Media Outlets, Writers and Editors.
• Arrange online and blogger junkets.
• Manage award submissions
Basic Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years related work experience required in a similar role.
• The candidate should possess excellent writing and communication skills, including ability to aggressively pitch Freeform content.
• This candidate will also work closely with different departments including Programming, Marketing and Social, so teamwork is critical.
• Candidate should have exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of television publicity and reporters who cover the television business is a plus
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent work experience
