Full Time Job
The Newsroom Manager oversees and carries out day to day news coverage responsibilities during the week and weekends, reacting quickly and calmly to breaking news, launching news coverage plans for the day, choosing the most important, visual and timely stories and assigning them to the various NewsOne's correspondents. The Newsroom Manager also works closely with ABC Radio's Editorial Team, in our shared workspace, passing along key editorial information.
Responsibilities
• Provides script approval and ensures finished daily news packages and franchise pieces are available to stations well before air-time
• Ensures the correspondent packages meet ABC's Standards for the highest level of quality control and accuracy
• Determines which content is fed on the NewsOne Live Channels on weekdays/weekends and assures clear communication to stations about what they're seeing and when switching to a different live signal
• Determines and arranges travel for correspondents and producers in consultation with Vice-President and Managing Editor
• Responsible for timely delivery of correspondent news packages and other desirable news content to stations and clients across all time zones
• Oversees and manages the smooth and efficient running of the NewsOne Rim, doling out responsibilities to a diverse staff of spot producers, associate producers and production associates, with a key focus on delivering excellent content and customer service to ABC's stations, clients and internal platforms
• Works in collaboration and cooperation with other ABC News platforms, ABC affiliates and clients
• Works closely with ABC News Legal, Standards and Practices and Rights and Clearance Departments
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 8 years newsroom experience
• Ability to write news packages for correspondents/anchors, as needed
• Requires ability to think clearly and act decisively while dealing with multiple breaking news situations
• Knowledge of newsroom wire systems such as I-News or ENPS
Preferred Education
• Bachelors degree from accredited college, or equivalent experience
