Media Engineer (Infrastructure And Services)
Join us and help provide world-class media infrastructure services which enable DATG business objectives, focused on continuous Infrastructure availability, media asset management, transforming and distribution platforms.
This position will be within the DATG Media Infrastructure Services team which provides technical support, systems management, administration, technology acquisition, and maintains IT policies and standards. This person will be an integral member of the team managing the production media infrastructure, media services platforms, and day-to-day operations across multiple data centers, both on premises and cloud based.
Responsibilities
• System administration of media asset management, transformation and distribution platforms.
• Design and implement any system/workflow changes that may require provisioning, while following the DATG change management process and produce/ update complete documentation regarding release, workflow drawings, and project details.
• Provision, support all technical infrastructure and system software components. This may include hypervisor, compute, and enterprise storage services.
• Ensures the use of performance data and historical metrics to effectively plan for growth, upgrades, migrations and optimizations.
• Planning and execution of small to large-scale projects within Media Infrastructure Services teams under the direction of the manager. Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services.
• Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
Basic Qualifications
• 3-5 years experience on current broadcast transmission, studio and post production technology and processes, satellite, cable and terrestrial television systems, IT systems, WEB/ interactive TV technology and non-linear broadcast systems including transcoding environment
• 3-5 years experience with file based video and audio codecs, transcoding and MAM concepts.
• 3 years scripting experience:
• Develop/ code/ script solutions to support new non-linear services using the current platforms
• Intermediate to advanced skills in JSON, Ruby or Python
• Create and deploy scripts on a live environment; particular knowledge of JavaScript is preferred.
• 3-5 years system engineering experience:
• Hands on system administration in a Linux/Unix Environment both Virtual, with multiple hypervisors, and physical.
• Experience supporting systems hosted in a cloud environment such as Amazon Web Services or Azure
• Knowledge of core internet and networking protocols including, but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
• Experience using monitoring platforms like NewRelic, Nagios or DataDog
• 3 years of above experience managed within a multi data center enterprise with cross replication.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to peers and external vendors.
• Strong active listening, conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
• Open-minded and passionate about learning new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing JavaScript applications is not necessary but considered valuable.
• Implementing and maintaining enterprise configuration management frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible,
• Create/Edit Modules/Recipes
• Experience with Continuous Delivery and Deployment Automation method
• Understanding of various SDLC methodologies particularly Agile
• Experience working with Code Repositories like GitHub, SVN
Required Education
• Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical or Media major, such as engineering, computer science or Broadcast
