Full Time Job
The primary function of the Finishing Editor is to prepare finished short form content for broadcast as well as emerging platforms across DATG Properties as well as synergistic partners. This position is responsible for creation of final assets for end user consumption while working within the technical requirements for each platform.
The ideal candidate will possess superior aesthetic sensibilities as well as industry leading technical knowledge required to carry out the execution of finished assets. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of end-to-end edit workflows, the ability to comprehend complex technical requirements, as well as perform at a high level in supervised and unsupervised sessions. Acute communication skills, precise attention to detail and grace under pressure is a must.
Responsibilities
• Finish rough cut edits and prepare spots for final delivery to broadcast playout systems or digital platforms
• Color grade raw footage from shoots using industry leading systems and software
• Version, transcode and export media assets to correct specifications
• Operate in a detail oriented manner with an eye for continuity -
• Work on-set with DP's to create LUTs for color finishing
• Troubleshoot technical issues - and find solutions
• Work in collaboration with audio mix services of the department
• Provide scheduling with accurate information to help maintain optimal, uninterrupted workflows
• Inform technical support team of any issues or blockers to continuous workflow
• Stay abreast of emerging industry standards, adopting best practices and technologies whenever possible
• Obtain needs for assignments and precisely execute deliverables in adherence to original direction
• Collaborate with clients and management to ensure they receive the highest level of service and satisfaction
• Media management, asset organization, and project management
• Time permitting: prep projects, sync audio
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Finishing for broadcast and digital media
• Industry experience and talent demonstrated by demo reel and portfolio
• Broadcast, digital and/or cable television network experience is preferred
• Exposure to a variety of creative production environments and companies a plus
• Expert level proficiency in Avid Symphony, Adobe Premiere, & Interplay, DaVinci Resolve
• Full understanding of all broadcast / DI color spaces
• Understanding of graphics components and ability to integrate with footage
• Full Knowledge of broadcast and digital standards and video formats
• Experience with audio in an edit environment
• Experience in working with mixed media
• Knowledge of digital / social platforms standards and specifications
• Knowledge of color science and color correction techniques
• Must be a team player who can work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in a wide variety of industry standard 3rd party software and plugins
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop) a plus
• Be well versed in current creative trends and concepts and different output specs
• A familiarity with industry standard file formats and resolutions as well as emerging technologies
• Ability to read a QC report and deal with QC failures
• A strong work ethic, and relentless commitment to quality and efficiency
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
