Director - Post Production (Television Animation)
The Director, Post Production will manage all of TVA's editors, post supervisors, and post/sound of all projects produced for us at TVA. The Director will ensure the streamlined operation of our Post Productions from series greenlight through delivery. This Director will work closely with the creative teams, editors, Executives and Department Heads to ensure the highest quality within our budget and schedules.
Responsibilities
• Supervise all aspects of post for series including, but not limited to:
o Post Scheduling
o Post Budgeting
o Editorial Staffing
o Sound Mixing
• Oversee Manager of Production, (4) Post supervisors, and (56) Editors on all current productions; manage and assess post schedules and reports – identify challenges and risks and work with the appropriate team to resolve issues, streamline processes, and foster innovation
• Be a liaison between the post/editorial team and the production management staff
• Team with show producers, line producers, and key department heads to ensure that shows are produced at the highest quality within the constraints of the budget and schedule
• Partner with Line Producers, and production finance to create and refine schedule and budgets for editorial, and audio mix
• Collaborate with the Director, Digital Production to develop and refine pipelines
• Work with various DTVA and Channel teams – Development, Current, Franchise, Marketing, Media Relations, Production, Casting, Music, Post Production, Finance, Business Affairs, Labor Relations, Legal, IT, HR, Facility Operations, etc.
• Keep attuned of key industry trends and identify opportunities
• Think critically and analytically. Must have a high aptitude for strategic planning and tactical execution on a multitude of simultaneous projects
• In partnership with VP, identify and evaluate audio mix houses
• In collaboration with VP: interview and keep a strong availability list of editorial staff
Basic Qualifications
• Significant post management experience in animation including prior experience as an editor, or as a post supervisor
• Extensive experience and knowledge of post-production, production and sound
• An experimental, risk-taking mind-set: Must be open to thinking outside of traditional television formats and outside of the traditional linear television model.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills which will enable him/her to interact with a range of personalities and styles and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization; have a problem-solving approach; be highly self-motivated, well-organized and have a strong work ethic.
• Familiarity with video/sound editorial software, hardware, databases and asset management systems
• Wide industry knowledge of talent, process and various pipelines
• Experience working with post vendors
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on animation post experience
• Experience managing editorial teams in a high-pressure environment
• A track record of delivering animated series on-time and on-budget
• Experience in a large dynamic studio
• A passion for children's programming
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in related field
