Our Team
The Media Strategy & Analytics team acts as an internal media agency that handles the strategy, execution, and reporting of all paid & owned media vehicles with the goal of driving viewership to the Discovery Networks.
The Role
This role is a critical position within the Media Strategy and Analytics (MSA) department, specifically within The Media Lab pod. S/he will work with the other pods in MSA to conduct analysis to help develop best practices for media campaigns. The Data & Analytics Manager will also assist in advancing MSA’s data and tech infrastructure. This includes maintaining and developing the data-driven media toolkit, on-boarding new data sources that allow for more granular multi-platform measurement, and project management of external vendors. Specific responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Media Director and in partnership with the Media Research Analyst, the Data & Analytics Manager will focus on the below areas:
1. Multi-platform Measurement infrastructure
a. Solve measurement challenges to ensure ROI can be calculated across all media vehicles
b. Gain access to and on-board new datasets
c. Consistently QA datasets to identify anomalies and ensure integrity in reporting
d. Process and cleanse large datasets
2. Data-Driven Media Toolkit
a. Develop new tools to help close gaps in MSA’s measurement infrastructure
b. Constantly refine tools by adding new functionality and maintain tools by ensuring most recent data is added on a monthly/quarterly basis
c. Establish connectivity between various data sources
3. Data Management & Visualization
a. On-going benchmark tracking
b. Conducting analysis across various types of data sources and creating visualizations/dashboards
4. Key Relationships
a. Internal: Manage and develop direct report (Media Research Analyst)
b. Internal: Partner with other pods in the MSA department to act as a resource by explaining reports, conducting learning sessions, and helping to make data digestible and accessible
c. External: Manage third party data providers and data science companies
Requirements:
* College degree within a quantitative discipline
* 3 years of work experience with data analysis and project management
* Experience with programming language (SQL, Python), statistical software (R, SAS)
* Experience in Tableau Desktop Professional is a plus
* Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office systems, specifically in Excel
* Self-starter, highly motivated, positive demeanour, excellent communicator, and able to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously
* Reasonable availability to respond to requests outside normal business hours as needed
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
Preferred qualifications
* Solid foundational understanding of media concepts and terminology strongly preferred
* Research experience within the television industry
