Details: DIRECTV’s Creative Services division needs a Freelance Broadcast/Post Production Engineer. This highly-skilled and knowledgeable individual will oversee and assist in the management of all video, audio, and studio infrastructures within a dynamic and fun creative group.

Responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting day-to-day technical issues and provide support to in-house post production talent
• Maintaining systems to ensure reliably working edit and broadcast equipment
• Perform hardware repair for TV broadcast equipment as well as audio and video equipment (component and board level)
• Interfacing with DIRECTV facility divisions for troubleshooting and technical synergy

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in the broadcast engineering arena, ideally working for very busy and highly technical production facilities.

Your abilities should include: advanced knowledge of and hands-on experience with broadcast equipment, networks (including switches and routers), servers, audio mixing equipment (Pro Tools) and networking, transcoding systems, digital video encoding systems, maintenance practices, adjust broadcast systems to meet broadcast standards using scopes, calibrators, and analyzers.

You’ll also be the kind of person who stays up to date on emerging technology. You’re creative, organized, detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills. You also have a solid awareness of products, services, and systems that are currently used throughout our industry.

You should be flexible, energetic, highly motivated, and open-minded. You’re able to solve problems quickly and work well under pressure. Finally, you must enjoy working in a team environment and interacting with a wide range of people and personalities.
