Purpose of the job:
The HR Manager will be front line support for multiple business units in our California offices, promoting positive and effective HR practices in accordance with all relevant employment laws while meeting the company values, mission, and purpose.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Serves as first point of contact for employee relations matters while consulting with managers and employees to proactively address employee relations issues
- Consults with VP of HR and legal counsel to ensure all divisional level policies and programs are implemented in compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures
- Anticipates legal exposures, potential legal actions such as harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, unfair treatment, workers compensation, and accommodation
- Under corporate guidance, leads and administers the performance management cycle that includes performance evaluations and mid show reviews, coaching and counseling, disciplinary actions, and separations
- Monitors workers' compensation claims and coordination between employee and insurance carrier
Strategic HR:
- Under corporate guidance, takes lead on corporate rollouts to client groups
- Establishes close working relationships with business managers to understand business objectives and requirements to assist in the timely delivery of people related solutions
- Provides advice, guidance and information on HR matters to business managers to support decision-making
- Partners with counterpart colleagues in the areas of recruiting, training, compensation, and benefits to work on value-added programs in areas of training, development, retention, and job performance
- Actively contributes in management business meetings to provide human resources perspective on key organizational issues
HR Administration:
- Prepares and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data
- Administers and tracks all employment contracts and extensions
- Under the guidance of the VPs of HR and Finance, facilitates the annual salary review and incentive bonus processes, liaising with Studio Manager and line managers as appropriate
- Publishes and administers corporate personnel policies
- Oversees the processing of all new employees and change-of-status forms
- Conducts orientation programs and in-service training on personnel, policies and procedures
- Analyzes and measures HR metrics, providing reports to corporate as requested
- Creates and implements action plans to improve efficiency and streamline HR workflows
- Serves as employee advocate by promptly responding to questions or concerns regarding company policy or practices
- Facilitates all work permit and visa applications
Skills, Education and/or Experience Required:
- BA in business administration or equivalent 5+ years generalist HR experience in entertainment/studio environment required
- Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and influence others
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- HR generalist, talent acquisition, and development experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable HR laws, regulations and business practices required
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be results-oriented with strong follow-through skills
- Exceptional Microsoft Office skills required
- Experience with Google Apps preferred
- Strong team player with focus on flawless execution of all HR-related matters
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
- Office working environment
- Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending production needs
- Walking/bending/sitting
