The Media Systems Operations Technician is responsible for the professional operation of the Digital Domain screening room. The Media Systems Operations Technician will perform media and data management operations as requested through the Media I/O and Production Services.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Daily configuration, testing and preparation of the screening room
• Operate polished, professional presentations to company clients and visitors
• Routing of real-time codecs as needed for remote dailies
• Perform media file operations including ingest, copy, encoding, transcoding and export as assigned
• Perform quality control (QC) of all media deliveries
• Collaborate with Production Services on facility-wide data and storage management
• Collaborate with Engineering and other stakeholders to determine project specific media workflows
• Collaborate with Engineering to maintain systems and minimize downtime
• Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience Required:
• 2+ years experience with Digital Cinema projection and sound systems
• 2+ years experience with media operations including encoding, transcoding and QC
• Ability to execute polished presentations that include several media sources with smooth transitions
• Solid understanding of file system directory structures in Linux, OS X and Windows operating systems
• Experience with Avid Media Composer
• Experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects
• Experience with Apple Final Cut Pro
• Experience with Autodesk Flame
• Familiar with digital media files and formats used in modern visual effects and post-production facilities
• Ability to perform duties while under pressure and short schedules
• Ability to communicate professionally with company executives and clients
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed on short notice
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
• Office working environment
• Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending production needs
• Walking/bending/sitting
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
