Dick Clark Productions, a diverse entertainment company and producer of a wide range of television programming, including awards shows, specials, and reality series, is seeking a highly qualified Senior Accountant. This position will be based in Santa Monica.
Description
This position will play a key role in an organization that is searching to increase efficiency through innovation and a strong knowledge of accounting software while maintaining the accuracy of the financials. Areas of responsibility include accounting system setup and maintenance, including implementing the financial reporting requirements by company and entity, as well as some of the more complex accounting in accordance with GAAP and for reviewing transaction activity to ensure compliance with management-authorized policies and procedures.
Role and Responsibilities
• Ability to analyze account activity and balances to determine drivers of change in the financial statements and to communicate these findings effectively in verbal and written format to management, auditors, and others
• Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures, maintain fixed asset records, including monthly depreciation
• Ownership of accounting process for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, various accruals, and other areas as assigned
• Reconcile GL accounts accurately and timely and resolve reconciling items within acceptable time frame
• Analyze operating expenses in order to validate accuracy of account activity, identify variances, provide variance analyses and propose timely adjustments accordingly
• Reconcile daily cash activities and prepare reports that summarize activity that is distributed to the executive leadership team
• Prepare, transmit, and reconcile weekly payroll, including related variance analysis
• Assist with annual budget process and be able to provide information to the Director, Finance as needed
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations within the Balance Sheet binder
• Prepare and submit financial reports and data required by executive leadership team, auditors, and other internal and external customers on a timely basis
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
• Experience in accounting with budget versus actual accounting or payroll accounting, and working with internal/external auditors
• Knowledge of payroll processing, tax withholding and state unemployment including regulatory and legal requirements helpful
• Ability to use sound judgment and maintain the strictest of confidentiality
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work extended hours when necessary
• Proficiency with email and MSOffice applications (specifically Excel) and experience with Great Plains
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Other projects as assigned
Qualifications
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation and accounting theory
• Highly detailed oriented and organized in work
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
Education and Experience
• 2-3+ years of experience as an accountant in general ledger with progressive responsibilities
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Economics; CPA certification a plus
