dick clark productions, a diverse entertainment company and producer of a wide range of television programming, including awards shows, specials, and reality series, is seeking a highly qualified Director, Programming & Development. This position reports to the EVP, Programming & Development and will be based in Santa Monica.
Description
The Director, Programming & Development is responsible for researching and vetting new program ideas and genres for dcp. The Director will also be an idea generator, responsible for proactively coming up with innovative show ideas and creating new programs for in-house development.
Responsibilities
• Create and develop internal ideas for specials and unscripted programming
• Take pitches for specials and unscripted programming and evaluate strength in relation to company mandate
• Delegate assignments to development team and oversee deliverables
• Manage projects in development and production including creative, budgets, schedule, script, set design, talent, etc.
• Coordinate and collaborate with DCP Production, Public Relations, Digital, Sponsorship, Business Affairs and International teams to develop and execute projects.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in live television production
• Manage a team/crew in a live production capacity
• Manage talent and creative in a live production capacity
• Build and maintain relationships among talent reps and managers, music & tv executives, publicists, producers, production crew
Job Requirements
• Minimum of 5-7 years overall work experience.
• Prior production experience and working understanding of live, documentary, scripted and reality television
• Significant experience working at a network or studio in development or current programming.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the non-scripted series production process.
• Strong existing relationships with production companies, agents, producers, etc.
• Demonstrated creative and story development skills.
• Highly collaborative and the ability to work well with others
• Self-motivated to develop new ideas.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Ability to multitask and manage complex projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree
