We currently have an opening for a Director, Compensation and Benefits. This position will be located in Burbank, CA.
Summary:
The role of Director, Compensation and Benefits is responsible for the management and administration of all employee benefit and compensation programs. This hands-on position develops, implements, and administers employee benefit and compensation policies, programs and procedures in support of the Company's goals and competitive practices. It will ensure that Company benefit and compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with Company policies and state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revision as well as new plans which are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives, coordinates implementation of programs and provides on-going guidance to Human Resources in various divisions and executive management as needed.
• Designs, plans, implements, and manages an equitable pay system, sales commission, bonus program, and management incentive program that ultimately support the Company's initiatives and strategy.
• Manage the annual salary planning/merit increase process to ensure alignment with the Company's budget, and a competitive structure within the market.
• Strong collaboration and support with divisional HR Business Partners on job analyses and other compensation and benefits related matters.
• Monitor and analyze trends affecting pay and benefits to assess how the organization can improve its practices.
• Provides advice to management and staff regarding pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation and job analysis and evaluation including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
• Evaluates and compares existing company compensation and benefit programs with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by executive management.
• Develops specifications for new compensation and benefit plans or modifies existing plans to maintain Company's competitive position in labor market, and create consistency for all divisions and locations, where possible.
• Ensures Company participation in and conduct of both exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
• Administers all employee benefits programs including 401(k) retirement plans, medical/dental/vision plans, life insurance/AD&D plans, short and long-term disability programs and flexible-spending plans.
• Ultimately responsible for benefit inquiries and grievances to ensure a quick, equitable, and courteous resolution. Maintains contact with providers and employees to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
• Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation including original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements, and policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the Company to effect changes in benefit program. And ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
• Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
• Assures that existing and new benefit programs are adaptable to standardized computer and reporting systems. Develops benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management.
• Supervises maintenance of human resources records including maintenance of enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans.
• Provides presentations to management, HR, and staff on benefit and compensation programs.
• Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure Company compliance. The Company has an employee presence in California, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Washington State.
Requirements:
• A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in Compensation and Benefit administration, OR and appropriate combination of education and experience.
• Solid knowledge and experience with government regulations as they apply to health and welfare programs, compensation programs, organizational policies and operations.
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of compensation programs including but not limited to base salary, incentive plan design, sales incentives, and executive compensation.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and administering health and welfare plans for mid-sized organizations.
• A high level of technical expertise including experience with HRIS systems, MS Office Suite software, and web based technology.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills in addition to strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience working with and maintaining sensitive and confidential information.
• Demonstrated success in working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanor and exercising tact and good judgment.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Must have strong customer service sills.
• Demonstrated experience creating and presenting complex data in a summarized format to executive management.
