We are seeking a Senior NOC Engineer with 8+ years of experience to work out of our Burbank, CA facility.
The position will be responsible for successful operation of Deluxe technology products and solutions that focus on video on demand (VOD), digital asset management (DAM), and digital distribution.
Responsibilities:
• Monitoring and maintaining end-to-end content workflows, and content processing systems
• Responding to trouble tickets, customer calls and monitoring alarms and following established troubleshooting and escalation procedures.
• Assisting the engineering and software development groups in resolving day to day technical issues, reporting software bugs to internal and external audiences
• Part of a team operating video on demand (VOD), digital asset management (DAM), and digital distribution technology solutions.
• Compiling and publishing regular reports on content usage, system performance, uptime and other metrics for both internal and external audiences.
• Create views, scripts, saved searches, wiki pages and other operational aids for support personnel. Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for content workflows and troubleshooting.
• Documenting, creating, testing and deploying business rules for various VOD and OTT workflows.
• Collaborating with partners in all steps of the digital delivery supply chain.
• Understanding, documenting and enforcing cable provider-specific rules for content.
• Finding opportunities to automate workflow and implementing processes and proceedures.
Requirements:
• 8+ years enterprise level technical support experience, preferably in a NOC. TV/film post production environment a big plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Experience interfacing with customers for support issues
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems
• Proficiency with MS Office tools, particularly with Excel.
• Hands on Experience in a scripting language such as Perl, Unix Shell, Powershell, bash, PHP, Python or Java
• Knowledge of monitoring solutions and scripts, familiarity with monitoring REST, SOAP based web services and tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti, or Solarwinds
• Knowledge of Splunk or similar log parsing tools/technologies.
• Experience with Helpdesk and Wiki Systems (Atlassian Confluence and Jira, Zendesk)
• Experience with content distribution technologies (Kencast, Aspera, Signiant)
• Experience and proven success working in a highly collaborative environment.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Must be resourceful, able to adapt to new situations, and to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Willing to work night and/or swing shifts and to be part of an on-call rotation.
Desired Experience:
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals ( VLANs, DNS, Network Address Translation (NAT)) and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of SQL, MongoDB/NoSQL databases queries.
• Experience with VOD, excellent understanding on video and metadata specification a real plus
• Content distribution workflows (broadcast, VOD, CDN)
• Digital media (i.e. encoding, distribution, transcoding and broadcasting)
• Familiarity with CableLabs 1.1 metadata and encoding spec.
