We currently have an opening for a Manager, Technical Accounting. This position will be located in Burbank, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for providing corporate accounting guidance to Deluxe's worldwide finance and accounting groups to ensure the company's finance statements are prepared in accordance US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) by conducting accounting research, overseeing, establishing, and communicating accounting policies and control procedures, managing the company's chart of accounts, and assisting with the consolidation of the worldwide financial results. The position will also be responsible for coordinating the Company's audit and the year-end audited financial statements.
• Conduct technical accounting research and provide US GAAP accounting guidance to the worldwide finance and accounting groups, and assess impact of new accounting guidance on the company's results.
• Develop and communicate corporate accounting policies and procedures including internal control procedures.
• Management of the company's chart of accounts, including overseeing the addition and deletion accounts, providing guidance as to which accounts should be used for recording specific types of transactions, and ensuring that accounts are used properly and consistently throughout the company.
• Oversee general ledger close process including communication of close calendar, reconciliation of control accounts (A/P, A/R, goods invoiced, not received, etc.) and act as lead accounting point person for SAP team.
• Coordinate interim and year-end financial audit, acting as key point of contact for the company's independent auditors, preparing and distributing year-end audit reporting package, coordinating auditor requests, and help to ensure interim and audit process stays on schedule and within budget.
• Lead the process of compiling the year-end audited financial statements and drafting the related footnotes.
• Compile annual insurance renewal data for the company's property, casualty, E&O and other insurance programs.
• Assist in and act as backup for the monthly worldwide consolidation process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Active CPA.
• Minimum 4 years public accounting experience.
• Strong overall technical accounting knowledge of GAAP, including experience researching and addressing complex accounting issues with respect to revenue recognition, purchase accounting, variable interest entities, hedge accounting, etc.
• Proficiency in developing sound accounting policies and procedures and internal control processes.
• Experience drafting financial statements including drafting complex footnotes.
• Strong knowledge of SAP a plus.
• Knowledge of IFRS a plus.
• Consolidation experience with multiple divisions and multiple currencies using BPC, Hyperion, Cognos or similar consolidation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and focus on accuracy.
• Advanced skills in Excel and Word required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a culturally and ethnically diverse workforce.
