We currently have an opening for a Machine Room Technician. This position will be located in Culver City, CA on the Sony Lot.
SUMMARY - Machine Room Technician:
The position requires the ability to set up HD and Standard Definition tape machines for Duplication, Encoding, and playback functions for Q.C., Edit and Color bay sessions. Must be able to use, and learn how to use encoding and capturing devices for ingests and transcodes. Must know how to do cross-conversions, and up-conversions through external devices and down-conversions from all HD tape machine formats. Experience required in use of router systems, patch-bays and external hardware for time-code, closed-captioning and character generators. The ability for multitasking, handling of client needs and attention to detail is a must. The desired candidate must be able to perform proficiently and consistently meet or exceed expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Asses and complete and Quality Check duplication and encoding orders, with knowledge on assessing and measuring signals through waveform monitors and vector scopes.
• Set up Tape Machines and external devices for creative session work, and Q.C. Sessions in addition to duplication and encoding purposes.
• Coordinate and plan the most effective use of resources, based on the schedule on a daily basis.
• Communicate to the Supervisor any issues of workload, workorder information, equipment issues and engineering requirements
• Ability and desire to use and learn new technologies as they are deployed to increase efficiency and productivity.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, and skill-set:
• Experience with Final Cut, AVID, Sorenson Squeeze, Episodes, Digital Rapids, and other software encoding platforms
• Familiarity and with Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure and manage multiple tasks at once
• Strong problem solving skills
• Attention to detail
• General knowledge of IT environments with at least an understanding of basic MAC and PC desktop functions.
• Comfortable learning, operating, and maintaining new equipment as required
