Deluxe Media (Deluxe) is a leading supplier of Theatrical, Home Entertainment and digital distribution post production services, including subtitling and localization, video compression, encoding, authoring, menu design, audio, network services, television distribution and broadcast services.
We have an opening for a Broadcast Transmission Technician. This position will be located in Los Angeles, CA. It will report to the Manager, Broadcast Operations.
Summary:
Operating in a zero tolerance-for-defects environment, the Broadcast Operations Center is wholly responsible for the playback and uplink of all programming for The CW Plus Cable Network as well as daily programs and Ad Hoc Features for Warner Bros. Domestic Television, Sony, MGM, Trifecta and all other GDMX syndication clients. This position is responsible for playback and monitoring of a broadcast signal (uplink and downlink) in accordance with provided 24-hour Programming Log/Schedule. Position is also responsible for automation playlist editing, coordinating live Closed Captioning sessions and accurately reporting Broadcast discrepancies and working with management and engineering staff on resolution of issues affecting Broadcast.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Position monitors and maintains acceptable video and audio technical specifications while following on-air playback schedule.
• Verifies complete and accurate automation data in broadcast schedule.
• Responsible for coordinating live Closed Captioning sessions with engineering staff, Closed Captioning vendor and Customer Service staff.
• Responsible for programming accurate AMOL and V-Chip data during all Broadcasts.
• Ensure work assignments, their status and disposition are timely and accurately recorded in operations systems.
• Engage in on-going training programs as necessary.
• Performs technical QC of commercial, promo, and program elements.
• Preform initial troubleshooting of broadcast playback, uplink, and downlink problems and communicate across departmental lines to facilitate resolution.
• Documents technical problems and communicate them to maintenance personnel and management.
• Field phone calls from content providers, customer service team and affiliates.
• Verifies presence and accuracy of all scheduled graphic elements, snipes, banners and bugs.
• Responsible for assisting shift leads in creation and maintenance of SOP's.
• Complete additional duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
• Operation of Video/Audio capture/ingest/encoding hardware and software
• Broadcast playback and processing equipment: Harris/Imagine, Omneon, Tandberg, Evertz
• Familiarity with video tape formats, video file types and container formats
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of aspect ratios and frame rates used in HD and SD environments.
• Experience with Windows, and Mac environments.
• Must demonstrate writing and verbal skills commensurate with a professional office environment.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline driven broadcast environment
Qualifications:
• 5 years recent and relevant experience in on-air Master Control Operations with equivalent technologies required.
• Must be technically astute, computer literate and possess an aptitude and advanced understanding of video and audio.
• Must be proficient with Harris Automation, Windows based programs, and computer terminology.
• High School diploma required.
• Some college or equivalent in Broadcast Communications or Video/Technical preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Requires attention to detail and problem solving.
• Must be able to work independently once given work assignments.
