Deluxe Media (Deluxe) is a leading supplier of Theatrical, Home Entertainment and digital distribution post production services, including subtitling and localization, video compression, encoding, authoring, menu design, audio, network services, television distribution and broadcast services.
We have an opening for a Broadcast Ingest Technician. This position will be located in Los Angeles, CA. It will report to the Manager, Broadcast Operations.
Summary:
Operating in a zero tolerance-for-defects environment, the Broadcast Operations Center is wholly responsible for the assembly and integration of all programming for the The CW Plus Cable Network and daily Syndication programs and Ad Hoc Features for Warner Bros., Sony, MGM, Trifecta and all other Deluxe syndication clients. This position is responsible for digital ingest of all programming, promo material and commercial content for Broadcast. Position is responsible for ingest accuracy, including all associated metadata entry and technical QC including satisfaction of FCC technical parameters. Position is also responsible for creating off-line, CC sub-masters, recording elements required for tape duplication and building all program reels needed for contingency periods and scheduled maintenance windows.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Digital ingest of program, promo and commercial media based on ingest schedule/pick list/dub list and in accordance with video and audio technical specifications.
• Entering complete and accurate automation metadata in broadcast database for all ingested elements.
• Viewing and quality control of captured content.
• Recoding of programming, promos and commercial media delivered via fiber including scheduling and routing of fiber lines. Recording of media required for duplication based on Record Schedule.
• Ensure work assignments, their status and disposition are timely and accurately recorded in operations systems.
• Engage in on-going training programs as necessary.
• Analyze, document and communicate ingest and server issues in trouble ticket system and work with engineering personnel toward resolution.
• Perform digital watermarking for promos and monitor encode session.
• Complete additional duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
• Operation of Video/Audio capture/ingest/encoding hardware and software
• Broadcast playback and processing equipment: Harris/Imagine, Omneon, Tandberg, Evertz
• Familiarity with video tape formats, video file types and container formats
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of aspect ratios and frame rates used in HD and SD environments.
• Experience with Windows, and Mac environments.
• Must demonstrate writing and verbal skills commensurate with a professional office environment.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline driven broadcast environment
Qualifications:
• 4 years recent and relevant experience in on-air Broadcast Operations with equivalent technologies required.
• 1-2 years current digital media capture/ingest operations environment experience required.
• Must be technically astute, computer literate and possess an aptitude and advanced understanding of video and audio.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Requires attention to detail and problem solving.
• Must be able to work independently once given work assignments.
