Full Time Job
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services, this full-time, 12-month, position provides coordination, technical direction and technical support in the planning and provision of sound, lighting, and video production services for the Academy including major events, performing arts programs, student activities and summer programs.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include: collaborate with many diverse groups on campus to support Academy programs and events, including public dance, theater, and music performances; work with performing arts and student activities faculty and student technical crews to ensure the successful design and implementation of sound and light programs in support of their performances; deliver and set up audio visual equipment and sets serve as a technical liaison to guest artists, performers, and vendors; maintain existing audio visual equipment including sound and light systems as appropriate, and coordinate maintenance service from outside vendors where necessary; in collaboration with other ITS staff members, provide training and support for audio visual systems installed in the Hess Center performance spaces and classrooms; evaluate appropriate emerging technologies for audio visual technology resources; aggressively pursue knowledge and new skills relevant to production services; and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and specifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, or the equivalent; experience working with sound and lighting in a performance environment; be available to work a flexible schedule including evening and/or weekend hours to support special events, rehearsals and performances; the ability to provide support for scenic carpentry and basic electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting; strong initiative and the ability to be self-directed, resourceful and creative; facility with and interest in the promotion of cooperation and teamwork with department colleagues; strong customer service orientation and good communications skills; the ability to use a ladder or lift and lift 50 pounds. Experience working in an educational environment is desirable.
