JOB DESCRIPTION
DAYWALKER Studios is seeking a Surfacing Lead to join an upcoming full CG feature film production in Cologne. The Surfacing Lead supervise and direct the Surfacing- and Grooming Artists. The position requieres a high degree of technical skills and artistic judgement, as well as strong leadership, time management and mentoring skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for textures, grooming, shading of character, sets and props
- Work with R&D and Supervisors of the show to guide the overall approach to texturing, grooming and shading
- Give direction and constructive feedback to maintain the required standard of work
- Contribute to the overall operation and improvement of the responsible team
- Work closely with the modelling team to ensure optimized UV's
- Work closely with the look- and design department to create and match a specific look
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years minimum film production experience
- Knowledge of industry-standard texture packages such as Mari, Zbrush, Mudbox or 3D Coat
- Knowledge of industry-standard renderer such as Arnold or Vray
- Strong knowledge of Maya
- Knowledge of UV unwrapping techniques
- Advanced Photoshop proficiency
- Have an eye for detail, composition, colors, scales and forms
- Traditional painting/drawing skills are a plus
- Be able to manage time and resources to meet deadline
- Excellent team player with good communication skills
- Excellent file and asset management skills
