Deputy Director of Communications/Senior Writer
Non-profit creative community coalition seeks a Deputy Director of Communications/Senior Writer. Under the leadership of the Director of Communications, the Deputy Director will play a lead writing role in support of public relations efforts and member communications.
Responsibilities:
• Draft public-facing materials, including press releases, op-eds, statements, talking points, web content, blog posts, social media content, and other written materials.
• Track and monitor press coverage relating to CreativeFuture's mission and assist in rapid response.
• Support press outreach efforts, including pitching, maintaining press lists, coordinating press interview logistics, and regularly maintaining a communications calendar of upcoming opportunities for the speakers bureau, writers bureau, and other activities.
• Conduct research to support the creation of communications materials, including culling facts, statistics, and positive stories from news articles, studies and reports, and studio press kits.
• Exercise extraordinary attention to detail while maintaining quality control over communications materials.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• A minimum of two-four years of experience in public relations, media, journalism, nonprofit advocacy, or a related field a plus. Additional experience preferred.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including a knowledge of and command of AP writing style.
• Experience in a lead writing position for a major company, campaign, or news outlet and a demonstrated ability to write and develop messaging around complex issues.
• Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure required.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Highly-motivated, demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm.
• Entertainment industry experience a plus.
• Knowledge of design programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator a plus.
