Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Promotion Manager is responsible for the marketing of the news product. The Promotion Manager must look at the advertising opportunities and design creative to match the platform - assign projects, follow up with producers and meet with other managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises the day to day production of news promotion
• Attends news meetings, meets with producers to determine stories to promote, proofreads scripts and places spots on various platforms
• Plans special report promotion on tv, internet and social
• Coordinates with news and graphics department to present a unified image to viewers
• Determine specials to promote with news and Creative Services Director
• Develop plan for promotion
• Assign producers to execute plan
• Coordinate image production for the TV station
• Identify the best platform for the promotion
• Work on creative with producers
• Work as Executive producer promotion taping
• Research planning and follow up
• Assist in designing research projects for TV station
• Attend research sessions
• Develop action plan and carry through with producer
• Co-manage promotional inventory using WideOrbit
• Plan and execute digital promotional campaigns
• Plan and execute ad campaigns on social media
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, preferably in Marketing or Journalism
• Five years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a television environment. Two years' experience in a management role
• Avid editing experience a plus
