Position Title: Workflow Editor
Department: Photo Desk
Reports to: Photo Desk Manager
Purpose:
We are looking for a dynamic self motivated person who is capable of working on a fast paced non-stop photo desk.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent news and image judgement and have the ability and professional skills to meet deadlines and high volume production targets.
A successful applicant would have experience in editing and transmitting digital imagery and video as knowledge of best practices when delivering images to clients.
Candidates should demonstrate high levels of proficiency in caption writing and media law.
Ideal candidates should have a good knowledge of entertainment news and current affairs and excellent communication skills.
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with photographers and clients and occasionally facilitate assignments.
Responsibilities:
• Upload new photographs from contributing photographers.
• Editing down image sets and delivering them in a timely manner to customers.
• Correct grammar and apply captioning that adds ‘story value’ to an image set.
• Add keywrods to ehance image searchability functionality.
• Create breaking news packages from Corbis’ archival content
• Provide support for contributing photographers on uploading content
• Edit photos to ensure high quality product is available to clients
• Faciliate calls from clients requesting content and research best solutions to administer.
• The ability to multi-task and operate in an envornment with daily high volument production targets.
• Coordinate research on new/breaking content and facilitate routing of assignments that are administered by the editors
• Troubleshoot technical issues with contributing photographer uploads or upload capability
• Assisting Photo Desk manager and Photo Editor in signing up new contributors.
• Making sure all sets of pictures that come in are correctly captioned and liaising with NZ keywording house during normal working hours.
• Uploading content that is on the FTP system on a daily basis.
• Keywording the names of popular fashion and luxury product brands into image sets on the Splash website
• Adheres to company policies and procedures.
• The Employer endorses the Press Complaints Commission Code (the Code) of Practice and requires the Employee to observe the terms of the Code as a condition of employment.
Contacts:
This position has frequent contact with all levels of Splash employees and managers. This position also has frequent contact vendors, clients and other outside callers.
The ideal candidate must possess:
• Minimum of one - two years of experience in a media environment, particularly in an agency setting
• Digital photography background is required
• Technology experience, preferably in an Apple environment
• Ability to manage high volume, detail oriented process flow
• Skills in building and sustaining trusted relationships with artists; ability to understand varying needs and anticipating solutions.
• Customer-service orientation toward client satisfaction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work swing shift, with varying day/night shifts as required in a 24/7 breaking news environment.
• Ability to react quickly and effectively to breaking news.
