Purpose:
We are looking for a dynamic self-motivated person who is capable of working on a fast paced non-stop photo desk.
Responsibilities:
• Upload new photographs from contributing photographers.
• Edit down image sets and deliver them in a timely manner to customers.
• Correct grammar and apply captioning that adds ‘story value’ to an image set.
• Add keywords to enhance image search functionality.
• Create breaking news packages from Corbis’ archival content.
• Provide support for contributing photographers by uploading content.
• Edit photos to ensure high quality product is available to clients.
• Facilitate calls from clients requesting content and research best solutions to administer.
• Ability to multi-task and operate in an environment with daily high volume production targets.
• Coordinate research on new/breaking content and facilitate routing of assignments that are administered by the editors.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with contributing photographer uploads or upload capability.
• Assist Photo Desk manager and Photo Editor in signing up new contributors.
• Ensure all sets of incoming pictures are correctly captioned and serve as a liaison with the NZ keywording house during normal working hours.
• Upload content that is on the FTP system on a daily basis.
• Keyword the names of popular fashion and luxury product brands into image sets on the Splash website.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures. The Employer endorses the Press Complaints Commission Code (the Code) of Practice and requires the Employee to observe the terms of the Code as a condition of employment.
Contacts:
This position has frequent contact with all levels of Splash employees and managers. This position also has frequent contact with vendors, clients and other outside callers.
The ideal candidate must possess:
• Minimum of one - two years of experience in a media environment, particularly in an agency setting.
• Digital photography background is required.
• Technology experience, preferably in an Apple environment.
• Applicants must demonstrate excellent news and image judgment, as well as have the ability and professional skills to meet deadlines and high volume production targets.
• A successful applicant will have experience editing and transmitting digital imagery and video as knowledge of best practices when delivering images to clients.
• Candidates should demonstrate high levels of proficiency in caption writing and media law.
• Ideal candidates should have a good knowledge of entertainment news and current affairs and excellent communication skills.
• Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with photographers and clients, and occasionally facilitate assignments.
• Ability to manage a high volume, detail-oriented process flow.
• Skills in building and sustaining trusted relationships with artists.
• Ability to understand varying needs and anticipating solutions.
• Customer-service orientation toward client satisfaction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work swing shift, with varying day/night shifts as required in a 24/7 breaking news environment.
• Ability to react quickly and effectively to breaking news.
