About the Position:
The Senior UX designer leads the exploration, ideation, and detailed user interactions related to Corbis’ evolving images sites and services. We are seeking an experienced UX leader that can partner across disciplines in the creation of innovative product solutions that are based on company priorities, customer needs, best UX practices and the evolving image licensing landscape. The Senior UX designer knows when to lead, how to listen, and what type of design thinking and design artifacts are needed every step along the way. This is a hands-on position in Seattle and reports to the Design Director.
Essential Functions:
• Lead the design thinking and approach for compelling Image experiences that solve our key customer challenges and are aligned with Corbis brand and business goals, including significant efforts around search, licensing and purchasing of images across our sites.
• Partner across disciplines for product ideation and innovation in a rapid, flexible, and collaborative way that best suits an Agile development environment
• Advocate for the user through design and work to continuously ground product work in the identified business requirements and user needs.
• Lead the creation of key design artifacts that articulate a product’s user experience from the highest level down to the most specific UI and interaction details.
• Drive to design decisions and commitments across the product team to support innovation and iterative product releases.
Responsibilities Include:
• Leading collaborative design working sessions to solve key user problems
• Create foundational design documents including user archetypes and personas, sitemaps, and critical user flows
• Design artifacts that articulate the essence of a UI prior to all of the details being sorted, including construct ideation sketches, infographics, journey maps, and low and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Lead strategies, planning and specifics around various forms of design research and usability efforts for our customer’s image experiences
• Document experience details including wireframes and annotations across a complete device/viewport landscape
• Present to and communicate with peers, customers, stakeholders, executives
• Partner with additional design staff in the creation of the visual fit and finish for all digital experiences.
• Partner with Marketing and Brand leads to ensure that experiences are solving the identified challenges in a way that best suits user needs and works to reinforce a broader experience with the overall Corbis brand.
• Work with Design Director to identify and optimize common user experiences across the Corbis product landscape
• Establish and leverage interaction patterns and information design structures that work across the Corbis portfolio
• Ensuring UX best practices are known and applied.
Qualifications:
• 7 years of professional experience of hands-on interaction design work
• Experience driving cross-disciplinary teams to design decisions and product commitments
• Is passionate, detail-obsessed, articulate and demonstrates problem-solving skills
• Is forward thinking and flexible; Comfortable dealing with an organization in the midst of change
• Works successfully in a collaborative environment
• Is proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Has experience with Omnigraffle, Axure, and/or other prototyping tools
• Understands when it's appropriate to follow design patterns, when stretching a pattern is required, or when a pattern should be broken altogether.
• Experience designing and developing in Agile environments
• Experience working on distributed teams and the specific sensibilities and accommodations needed for a distributed team’s success
• Takes schedules, and deadlines seriously
• Front-end coding in HTML and CSS is a huge plus
• Experience designing for multiple channels, devices and resolutions (and responsive work in the portfolio to prove it)
• Experience designing web-based experiences that involve eCommerce and search as a critical part of their success.
• Has 'depth' of understanding in interaction design and information architecture with 'breadth' in web technologies, psychology and visual design.
• Must have a portfolio to prove it.
